Weekly video #37 05/29/2009

Well with a brief period of less internet access than someone in 1989 I still manage to hitch on to a library computer and give you your weekly dose of thomas-reddington.com approved YouTube. This week is a clip from A Bit of Fry and Laurie (coincidentally from the ’80s).

This was leaked earlier this week, personally I thought this would have been the last one to come out, whether or not it’s the best – decide for yourselves.

I’ve done 3 now, Twitter will inform you on how I did on each one (bad basically). I now have a break of about 12 days then they’re gonna come and come like no tomorrow. I should’ve prepared a more for these 3 but oh well.

While I’m procrastinating I might as well tell you what I’m at…
Maths = 75% done
English language = 40% done
English literature = 100% done
Biology = 100% done
Chemistry = 75% done
Physics = 75% done
Geography = 25% done
French = 25% done
Classics = 25% done
Philosophy = 0% done
Statistics = 100% done*
RE = 100% done*
*Completed last year

Yeah I should really get some work done…

I remember back in the day when I was a grammar Nazi, gasing typo Jews and making a perfect race. If such an institution of grammar police existed I would work for them. I would (I almost forgot the WV this week, oops).

Yeah I feel terrible, haven’t been ill in ages… I can’t really revise in this state (well no change there then) and pretty much no one is online at this hour, so I might as well show you my exam timetable… (Keeeeeeeeeeeno)

Mon 18th May (13:30) – Maths (non-calc)
Tue 19th May (9:00) – English literature
Wed 20th May (13:30) – Biology 3
Mon 1st June (9:00) – Maths (calc)
Tue 2nd June (beats me) – English 1
Tue 2nd June (beats me) – RS: philosophy AS (retake)
Tue 2nd June (beats me) – RS: ethics AS
Tue 2nd June (beats me) – Geography 1
Wed 3rd June (beats me) – French reading
Wed 3rd June (beats me) – French listening
Thu 4th June (9:00) – Chemistry 3
Thu 4th June (13:30) – English 2
Mon 8th June (9:00) – Classics (pots & shit)
Tue 9th June (9:00) – Geography 2
Wed 10th June (9:00) – Physics 3
Wed 10th June (13:30) – French Writing
Fri 12th June (13:30) – Classics (literature)

Not too bad, could be better, could be worse. The four exams on one of the days is a bit of a downer but oh well… However I am a tad pissed off about the maths papers being so far apart from each other, so I have to revise for it twice.

Pokémon Silver was my favourite game ever, occupying about 200 hours of my childhood. But here is some good news! HeartGold and SoulSilver (updates of Gold and Silver, like FireRed and LeafGreen) have been confirmed and will be released on the DS at some point in time! There will obviously be new features and stuff, there is one screenshot I found and one video, of New Bark Town, see for yourself:

This has very little footage (starts at about 4:20) and a lot of WTF:

Finally, I’ve only just discovered Pokémon roms (you can play Pokémon games on your computer), look ’em up. Yellow is fun. :)

It’s not funny because it’s true, but it’s funny because there’s a lot of stickmen dying…

Au revoir… 05/07/2009

Well I’ve been pretty busy actually trying to revise this week so posting has been somewhat difficult. On bank holiday Monday I got a new phone, the Orange Vegas. :D

My verdict is that it’s pretty good, especially for the price. I’m on pay as you go with Orange Dolphin, so I have free internet (as you can see above). The internet is alright, a tad slow, and some sites don’t work (like YouTube, and therefore weekly videos, but only Facebook MySpace and Bebo were included in the plan (I accidentally discovered that other sites were free)). The specs aren’t that good either when not considering the price, however I wasn’t out for anything expensive (but it has a touch screen :D).

Also, I did my French orals on Tuesday, which I aced (but I was in foundation, so yeah). I intend to get a B overall, hopefully listening won’t be harsh on me…

Finally, today was my last day of school. I’m actually pissed off because they didn’t tell us until today, we thought we were coming in tomorrow, so there will be some people I won’t see again and didn’t say goodbye to. Thanks Ignatius. So no more French, geography, classics, biology or English lessons for me…

Whine flu… 05/01/2009

This is starting to get on my nerves, so yeah, a few people have died in Mexico and the US, but c’mon now:

(Black = confirmed cases with death
Orange = confirmed cases without death
Yellow = unconfirmed cases)

As you can see, no one has even died yet in the UK (and if I’m correct there’s only eleven people that have it there). So, why am I getting pissed off about a potential pandemic? Well, swine flu is a bad thing but that does not mean that everyone should shout swine flu when someone coughs, that does not mean that people should wear gloves at all times, and that does not mean my school should put up signs telling us to wash our hands everywhere in the toilet (they actually did!).

So, just forget about it, if you happen to hold the winning ticket of this 1 in a 100 million mega-lottery, at least you’ll be mentioned on the news…

Sorry for just disappearing for a week…needed to ‘do’ some revision… Anyway, because I have a slight unusual interest in American politics, listen to this by Jonathan Coulton (who I also like because of this).
